Playlist Oct. 13, 2007 (Interview Red Flag)
By a wild stroke of luck, I got a chance to talk with the very gracious Chris Reynolds of Red Flag and his two (also gracious, but very quiet) touring musicians Kirk and Paul (last names uknown) tonight! They played the RecordBar around midnight tonight, and had a bit of time before-hand to drop in for an impromptu chat while we listened to a couple of songs from Red Flag's new album "Born Again." (Available via iTunes, and via their website redflag.org) Many thanks must go out to Chris, Kirk and Paul, Tim and especially Steve.

Playlist Oct. 21, 2006 (Roman Numerals in-studio) (2nd Week Pledge Drive)
Many thanks to anyone who pledged their support on 90.1 FM this pledge drive. I don't know what the final number is, but it's over 90,000 for the whole week, including the silent donation drive (via US Post), and online as well as on-air pledges.
It was such a pleasure having Billy Smith of Roman Numerals on the show tonight. Hopefully, our conversation was somewhat entertaining to listen to. It's so hard to consider how it sounds from the other side of the radio when you're in the middle of it. I'm sure the following is not a complete list. I'm going to fix it as soon as I get the back-up recording.
Track - Artist - Album (if new)
I Deserve It - Britta Phillips & Dean Wareham
Lint of Love - Cibo Matto
Can U Dig It - Pop Will Eat Itself
Please Don't Leave Me - Fade 13

Playlist Feb 11, 2006 (unValentine's Show) + Moving Units Interview
It's sort of become a tradition that I do a Valentine's show with a healthy dose of cynicism. In some ways this show was successful, and in some ways it failed. Then... there were all the requests I received for cheesy-upbeat singles that I honored. I suppose it became whatever it was, you know? My only hope (each time I do the show, in fact) is that those who listened in had fun doing so.
In other news:
Last night's Nine Inch Nails show was nothing short of phenomenal! I unfortunately missed Moving Units' opening set, because as always, flippin' Kansas City fails to mention if the time posted on the ticket is the door time or the show time, and Moving Units mustn't have played more than a 20 minute set. Sometimes there are things that this city truly needs to work on, I swear. "Disappointed" doesn't scratch the surface. I am way beyond upset.
Here was last week's playlist:
Track - Artist - Album (if new)
Inject Me - Pop Will Eat Itself

Playlist August 6, 2005 (Interview Nick Rhodes)
Tonight I broadcast an interview I recorded with Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran on Thursday afternoon, July 21, 2005, just before they played the Midland Theatre here in KC (July 23rd). As I've said in a previous post, it will be re-broadcast Wed. night/Thursday morning (Aug. 11th) on Chux Mix, which airs from 1am to 5am.
I have to admit that leading up to the interview with the classic Duran Duran song "Careless Memories" finally made me realize how real the interview had been, and what it meant to me to get the opportunity to do it. It's indescribable, that feeling. :)
I hope it made for interesting listening, and I hope you got some laughs from it as well. I know I did. :D Unfortunately, (sort of), I got lots of calls afterwards, and had a hard time keeping the show sounding smooth (at least from my standpoint). I also may have missed writing down some of the songs I played, but I'm typing up what I have on paper. Also, I broke some of my rules this weekend... but I'm sure you can relate. Playlist Dec. 11, 2004 (Interview: Piney Gir)
This weekend was fabulous! On Friday, I was lucky to catch Swayzak and VHS or BETA, all very nice guys. I managed to chit chat with 3/4 of VHS or BETA and David "Brun" Brown of Swayzak, but I'm not sure I'll be able to clean up the sound on the tape enough to air them on the show. I certainly hope so, because I like to share. :) Both bands tore it up at The Bottleneck, and I danced my booty off. VHS or BETA didn't take the stage until midnight, and, being the last act to play that night, much of the crowd had dispersed, which was disappointing. Shame on you folks for missing a kick ass set!
In the spirit of the holidays, I did a lot of giveaways this past weekend, and therefore, I'm a little unsure if I missed writing down a song or two on this list. Hopefully you'll forgive me. ;D It's my hope that my packages will be sent out before the week is out. Congrats to all the R2E2 Rock Trivia winners!
Also, many thanks to Piney Gir for the opportunity to interview her, and to Jason Harper of The Pitch for the blurb in this week's paper.
PS - The Guest DJ that was supposed to have a set on the 18th has cancelled and will reschedule. So you're stuck with me this coming weekend. It's going to be a Winter holiday themed show, so send me your holiday song requests within reason.
